Bleeding Tissue Paper technique

Hi everyone!
It's Branka here and today is my turn to bring you an Inspirational post. I've chosen to play with Bleeding tissue paper technique using a crepe paper.

If you want to play with this technique you will need:
- bleeding tissue paper ( you can get it in craft and art supply store) or crepe paper (couldn't find any bleeding tissue paper in my country)
- a flat watercolour brush
- a cup of water and a spray bottle full of water
- a watercolour paper (for the best result) or mixed media paper
You will also need a craft mat and some disposable gloves to protect your working surface and your hands.

This technique is very simple and easy to use so you can play with your kids if you want. It's so much fun!
If you want to create a beautiful coloured background for your art journal page or a card, then this technique is for you!

Step 1:
Generously spray water all over your paper.
Step 2:
Layer a variety of bleeding tissue paper pieces or crepe paper across the paper surface. Overlap the paper pieces to get the better result.
Step 3:
Spray water all over your layered paper again. The more water you add the better the colour bleeds from the paper.

Step 4:
Let it dry. You can use your heat gun if you want.
Step 5:
Once the background is dry, collect all your tissue/crepe paper pieces. You can use them in future
projects since they look amazing.

Here is the background:

Another way to layer your tissue or crepe paper is using your watercolour flat brush and a cup of water. This technique is better for those who want to have more control in layering smaller pieces of paper.

Step 1:
Spray water all over your paper surface.
Step 2:
Layer your coloured paper pieces one by one and apply water using your watercolor brush on each
piece as you layering them.

Step 3:
Let it dry.
Step 4:
Once the background is dry, collect your paper pieces.

Tip:
You can just tear the tissue/crepe paper to get random shapes or you can use your paper punches or dies to cut out some shapes and layered them on your paper surface.

You can use stripes of paper if you want:

This is the result:

Also, you can play with your stencils or masks to achieve the more unique look of your background.
Just place the stencil on your wet paper surface before you layer the tissue paper. In this case, the tissue paper goes on top of the stencil.

How fun is that!

This is an art journal page I created using the bleeding tissue paper technique on the background:

What a wonderful way to add colours to your pages!
Those are beautiful pieces of crepe paper that left and can be used in another project:

I hope I inspired you to try this fun and easy technique!
Hugs! Branka

Welcome to today's Guest Designer, Kezzy !

Hello and welcome ! Today we are welcoming Kezzy of Kezzy's Crafty Journey. Kezzy was the DT's chosen winner of the Grungy Christmas challenge and was invited to join us as Guest Designer. So let's move on to hear from Kezzy !

My name is Kerry (aka Kezzy) and I’m extremely honoured to be here today. I started crafting in 2006 and blogging in Jan 2011. I work part time as an accountant part time, I have two children 16 and 19 and I live with my partner and our dog Jasmine who is 14. Art is a huge part of my life, especially mixed media, I lurrrrrve working with paint, stamps, stencils, inks and general messiness. I taught myself to crochet two years ago and have become addicted to bright colourful yarn and love to make bright funky flowers for my art. I have thoroughly enjoyed doing this project for you, which is part of my New Year’s Resolution to make 2 cards per month as I do find it difficult to make mixed media cards. I have lots more photos, plus a full step by step of how it was made on my blog.

– using dye na flow in a spray bottle, spraying water on the watercolour card first
– with fingers smooshing some Dylusions paints onto card in areas
– using heavy body white paint with a brayer in areas (the heavy body gives texture)
– stamping with the dylusions paint (first EEV02)

– dripping with Bombay ink and Izink adding water and moving the card around
– using bubble wrap with white paint

– using the alphabet plastic stencils that come with mathematic sets and black spray paint
- using white paint and the crafters workshop stencil mini tiny circles and then neon paint watered down and dripped from a height with a dripper thingy

Using a large Dylusion stencil (flossie) and stars cut from stencil material using a Tim Holtz alterations die.  I used the mask part from each and then added black paint around them.  I then used Posca pens around the edges and then splattered with a Sharpie paint pen white.  I stamped the quote from EDY06 on white card and black ink and edged with a promarker.  I then added it all to the card blanks I made.

Fantastic cards Kezzy ! The black background is so effective and the splattered Sharpie is just fabulous!

There's still time to join in with the current challenge Splatter, Spritz and Smoosh and you never know you could be a Guiest Desiger too !

Stamping with Pearl Ex Powders

Hello everyone, Autumn here with today's inspirational post.  I hope to inspire you to use your stamps in a new way today.  Years ago, we all started collecting Pearl Ex powders, then came along Ranger's Perfect Pearls, and now there are an even wider variety of these mica pigment powders available.  Way back when, we mainly used them on black paper for high contrast, but I wanted to share a different option for you mixed media junkies, using them over inky backgrounds to create multi-layered tones or "texture."
Build your base layer by dipping your panels into inky Distress puddles.  Continue layering ink colors until you get a desired result.  Dry your panel between colors and before stamping.
Ink your desired stamp with VersaMark ink (the clear kind) and stamp it as you like.  Here I've stamped in the top left and bottom right to create a frame for my focal image.
Now lightly dip a super soft paintbrush in your mica powder and very gently rub it into your stamped pattern.  If you brush hard you will get streaks, so go lightly.
Next ooooh and aaaahhh over the lovely pattern you've created and play with the light bouncing off.  :)  Of course, this step is optional.
Once I assembled my focal point, I added a touch of the mica powder to a Frayed Burlap ink puddle and splashed my card.  I also splashed with the pure powder and water, heavily concentrated.  I love the effect!
From all of us girls here at Stamps and Stencils, have a lovely Valentine's Day!  Hugs, Autumn
